Today is National Telephone Day!

On April 25th, we observe National Telephone Day. Around the world, there are about 9.8 billion mobile phones. And while some predicted the landline to be obsolete by 2020, there are still about 930 million landlines worldwide. Globally, more than 1.5 billion calls are made every second! (source: sellcell)

National Telephone Day is a great day to highlight two essential telephone numbers: 211 and 988. Each is used to connect caring professionals to those in need.

211. Powered by people. Thousands of caring, local experts are available to help 24/7. These are the boots on the ground, the local experts who make finding help easier. More than two hundred 211 agencies across the United States offer a team of compassionate, highly trained community specialists who can help you access the best local resources and services to address nearly any need.

The 211 network in the United States responds to more than 21 million requests for help every year. Most calls, web chats, and text messages are from people seeking help to meet basic needs like housing, food, transportation, and health care.

We are honored to have more than doubled the 211 centers we support.

988. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States. The Lifeline is comprised of a national network of over 200 local crisis centers, combining custom local care and resources with national standards and best practices.

The 988 Lifeline provides professional support and resources for you and your loved ones. Together, we can all help prevent suicide.

We are honored to support crisis centers and 988 lines--and the 211s that also support 988 services.

Our CommunityOS® platform runs powerfully and quietly in the background, offering the most advanced technologies for coordinated assistance, exchanging data, managing, vetting, updating, publishing community services, and integrating with telephony systems.

On this National Telephone Day, we are incredibly proud of our 211 customers building out community information exchanges - partnering with local hospitals, crisis centers, 988 call centers, 911 call centers, and more - using our API tools to connect virtually any partner or stakeholder into a system of systems. We're moving thousands of fields of data between different systems every second of every day to better leverage the services of collaborative partners.
